Discovering Wheat

Since in September you are able to purchase Wheat I thought it would be a good idea to tell you how to use it from your Food Storage.

Red Wheat:  Great all round wheat.
                     Can make cereal, bread
                      and muffins and pancakes.

However :   Cereal is very good.
                                Breads and pancakes
it is way to heavy for
                                 these items to turn out
                                 well or even taste well
                                 in my opinion.
*** If you have a lot of this get some Vital Wheat Gluten and
add this in to lighten your wheat so it will turn out better.

White Wheat :  Best used for nice Bread

Soft Wheat  :   Best used for pancakes and Muffins
or anything you would use Baking
Powder or soda in.  Not Yeast
                                  recipes.

How to survive an Earthquake

What you need to buy to prepare for the Big One.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 hit the East Coast on Tuesday afternoon. Back in March, Slate columnist Farhad Manjoo wrote about the importance of earthquake kits and reviewed some important essentials. His article is republished below.
