Preparedness video from NASA
This is interesting coming from a Government agency on preparedness.

Have a Plan.....if your kids are at school, work, a friends house and something happens where will you meet? Make sure everyone has a backpack with a 72 hour kit inside. (make sure they now how to use everything in it). Practice drills yearly.
